My first experience with Neoncon was this past year October, 2008. I had an absolute blast! I met some fabulous gaming folk and the staff is just as helpful as they are fun. If you’re looking for a relaxed and fun gaming experience, Neoncon is just the place to be.

I have really loved the past two Neoncons I have attended. Every time I come to Neoncon I feel right at home, I have made many friends each time I have come out. Neoncon offers so many choices of games that I like it is hard to choose what to do first. Then of course there is Las Vegas itself, so if I want a break from gaming I can always enjoy what the city has to offer as well.

Neoncon.is a great venue for getting together with old friends and making new friends. There’s plenty to choose from on the Board Game schedule, and there’s always someone available to teach beginners or experienced gamers who want to learn something new.

I’ve been there since the beginning! My wife loves Las Vegas, so Neoncon was an easy sell. The fact that there is so much to do outside of gaming makes this a great combination con/holiday. (The only other con that would match it is XP, in the Arlington VA days, when you could spend time visiting D.C. – but those days are gone). I live in California, so we are within 6 hours drive. We’ve had friends fly in on cheap flights to Vegas, which is a bonus. The people are great, and I find myself signing up for events I wouldn’t have thought I could – from LARP and RPG to table top minis wargames.

With the loss of GenCon Socal, Neoncon is your late fall gaming ticket, and I consider it one of the premier west coast events, though I suppose its not actually on the coast. I love this show and we will definitely be there again.

I had a great time at Neoncon. It’s an intimate convention in a great location. It was well put together with a great variety of games and I enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and meeting people from all over.

The synergy bonus stacked up well at Neoncon; staff, judges, and games scheduled made my Perform: Gamer skill check very easy.

Neoncon strikes me as a great middle ground between the friendliness of a local convention and the aspirations of a national con. There were several hundred eager gamers playing a wide variety of board games and RPGs, and a healthy amount of friendly chatting on top of that. While they did not offer as many Indie RPGs as I would like, they plan to change that in 2009; including all these crazy story games I’ve heard of. I look forward to going again this year, meeting some more good people and playing some more great games!

NeonCon has been one of the most well organized conventions I’ve ever had the privilege of attending. I’ve met some fantastic people there, made many new friends, and got to spend time playing the games I enjoy so much. Each time I’ve attended NeonCon has been better than the previous, and I hope to return this year.

Neoncon is an enjoyable way to spend the weekend. The friends I’ve made through the con are wonderful people and I am happy to have them all year long, not just at the convention. I especially like how everyone has accepted my son into the fold. I enjoy the wide variety of games available and the chance to play new games that I haven’t played before. I am looking forward to the expanded convention in 2009 and can’t wait to see how it grows in the future.

I wanted to shoot you a quick email regarding the Star Fleet Battles Captains tournament that has been held during the last two NeonCon conventions. I’ve played SFB for the past 20 years and during this time I rarely had the opportunity to compete for a Rated Ace badge. The fact that NeonCon offers the Rated Ace opportunity on the west coast and in such an easily accessible city offers me the chance to compete annually in one of my favorite tactical games.

I’ve noticed that the player pool has grown steadily in Las Vegas over that past two years drawing competitors from Arizona and California. I imagine this is in part due the professionally run tournaments of Hugh Bishop and Van Henson. As long as my schedule accommodates the NeonCon convention I expect to be a regular at the Stat Fleet Battles events. Thanks for running such a great show!
